I remember it was an early morning on a Tuesday. We were out in the courtyard of our school, James K. Polk High School, and I was with my best friends Avery and Justen. We were in the middle of talking about a project that was assigned in biology and how no one understood it and then Justen..

Justen: Hey. H-hey guys. Who’s that kid?
Avery: What kid?
Justen: The one over there. You see him, don’t you Noriel?

I looked over my shoulder to see who he was talking about.

Me: Oh. I think he’s the new kid Ms. Jenny was talking about?
Justen: We should go talk to him.
Avery: Why?
Justen: Why not?
Avery: Because he’s kind of hot..
Me: Avery, if you want him to notice you might as well introduce yourself.
Avery: HAHAHHA, you’re funny Noriel. No. I’m going to wait over here until you guys come back.
Me: Come on Justen, let’s go meet the kid.

We walked over to the new kid who was fumbling through the school map seeming lost. 

Me: Um. Hey there. Um. You must be new?
New Kid: Oh. Um, yeah. Do you know where RM 302A is at?
Justen: Pre Calc? Noriel, don’t you and Avery have that class first?
Me: Yeah we do. Hey, we could show you the way to the class if you want.
New Kid: Really? That would be cool. *laughs* Thanks. My name is Vincent Castronovo by the way. Or you could just call me Vinny. *smiles*
Justen: Oh, well hey there Vinny. My name is Justen Martin, junior president, and nice meeting you. You seem like a pretty chill person.
Me: *shakes hands* My name is Noriel Beadless, ummm dancer at KAIDO, and nice to meet you as well Vinny.
Vinny: KAIDO? Do you think you tell me where that is sometime? I’m a dancer myself and my friend who goes here dances there too.
Me: Oh yeah, no prob. So you already know someone here?
Vinny: Yeah, Michael Fusco.
Justen: WOAH WOAH WAIT! Mikey Fusco? You know him?
Vinny: He’s my sister’s best friend’s brother.. if that made any sense.
Me: *laughs* That made total sense. I didn’t know Mikey knew you, he would’ve told us! Mikey and I are pretty tight, ahah.

And then the first bell rings for first period.

Justen: OH. That’s the first bell. We gotta go now, Nor. I’ll meet up with you guys during lunch, aight? *starts to jog away to his class* Text me!
Me: Suuure! -Hey Vinny, we should start heading to class now.

We started to talk about small things. Starting to make it less awkward. I was starting to like the kid. As a friend. I knew we were going to be really good friends. And when we got to class.. 

Avery: Noriel! And..
Vinny: Vincent Castronovo or you could just call me Vinny.
Avery: I’m Avery and I’m the Junior Vice Pres. And I think your seat is… over there next to mine.
Vinny: Cool. *starts walking over to his desk*
Me: *whispers* How’d you move Carey to a new desk? You know that’s pretty much her “property”.
Avery: *whispers back* It’s called bribery. Learn it.

After first period I went over to Vinny to ask him where he was going next.

Me: Hey Vin-
Avery: SO Vinny! Where’s your next class?
Me: ..yeah.
Vinny: Uhh *looks down at his schedule* I have art next with Ms. Mendoza.
Avery: Oh, boo. Justen has that class next. Maybe we could have lunch together?
Vinny: Uhh.. yeah sure.
Avery: KK. See you two later.
Vinny: She seems.. nice.
Me: *laughs* Wait til you actually get to know her. Well I got to go, I have APUSH next. So.. see you at lunch?
Vinny: Yeah. Later, Noriel.
Me: Later.
